The word Deken is Dutch for blanket. Which is rather appropriate when you have 2 Dutch ladies in the blanket business! Now this is no ordinary blanket business as it has to do with swiss army blankets and the refurbishment (and reconsideration) of their style in the market place today !
Kirsten
Hovenier and Mikée Westerling, the clever duo behind Deken, have
created a trendy decor line in the last year making use of old, never
used blankets for cushions, poofs, bags, stationary and other home
accessories that are functional, practical, cosy and just plain
fabulous !
With one of the largest collections of swiss army blankets (outisde of the swiss army that is), made of pure sheeps wool, the ladies have some interesting insight into the history behind their unique and of course limited collection, as production of the blankets stopped in the 1960’s, which My Little Black Book will leave them to tell you… With Christmas fast approaching Deken have made every excuse for you to shop and created a Christmas line of decorations for this year, made up of stockings, candles, and hanging ornaments which are presented in their quaint showroom in Bogis Bossy open Tuesdays 09h00 – 11h00 and Wednesday evenings or by appointment! Deken is really an innovation of vintage style and it has to be something you add to your decor !
